Museum Tiramisu

It was good when I could get some of it!

Very creamy very good I am going to learn to make this on my own
Its generally so over priced I can't stand it!

Tea time

Having tea and conversation in a ritzy yet comfortable atmosphere is always fun and relaxing at the same time.

I adore the atmosphere.

I didn't drink any tea.

Just liked the company.

Not my favorite textures

Though this restaurant came highly recommended (KashK so I remember the name), it wasn't my favorite food. The wine was superb, but the texture of the meal was so 'goopy' for want of a better word, that I bowed out on a great opinion.

The atmosphere was nice and conducive to talking, but the service at the end of the night was not great.
I wish it had all been better.
Maybe I will try it one more time.

Fancy lunchy

First time I visited this place.
I really liked the service an the food was ok.
Good I think
Maybe I have to go again.

I think one of my criteria for rating the food will now be how well they can create a vegetarian dish.

I am not vegetarian but I don't mind having vegetarian meals.
Its not a strong suit of some restaurants however.
If they can do THAT well, you know the meat dishes will be superb because they actually care about the taste of the food.

Drinky

Beer samplers
Berry weiss

Chimay
yummy

Brunch

Brunch has hit a new high
French Pastries in a cute patisserie :)
Guava cheese brioche

creme brulee
Tiramisu
Coffee

The Best

Pricey and worth it.
That salad was heavenly.

It was a Cobb salad with pressed eggs (hold the bacon), avocado, and tomatoes.

Wow!
Cheese came later

All of it was vegetarian

Desserts desserts

Everyone knows I love some cakey :)

Desserts with friends are the best way to spend some spare time

Love it

Love it

Love it

Best Fries

Sweet Potato Fries.
Oh Sooo good

A good vegetarian option but very carby, so eat sparingly.
By sparingly I mean once in a long while.

When the fries are done frying, drain them, add salt, a little pepper and some brown sugar (while warm).
mmmmmmmmm
Heavenly!

Kickin it

When you're chillin with your girly friend, watching CUBE...
Get the cake

Get the chocolate

Get the strawberries
Have a free for all
Life seems better! :)

Not my favorite

I thought the food at this place may have been better.
I thought when I got there that it may be good.

When I tasted the dishes, I was a little bit disappointed.

Portobello

I like Portobello Mushrooms and I hope I spelled that correctly.
The only thing that vaguely concerns me is the mouth feel.
It feels like you are eating a piece of meat when you are chewing.

That's not my favorite feeling when I am eating something that I know is NOT meat.
I sauteed these, added dill and a pinch of salt.
They were delicious
With sweet peas

Pizza and Tears

Under the careful instruction of Tristan I started with the Pizza dough.

I tried to make it flat enough to through in the air and flatten even further.
the result was a dough full of holes and me weeping in utter misery.
So I started over.
This was the result

An asymmetric dough

With a homemade sauce..

Delicious if I do say so myself (and I do)

Mushrooms and cheese

Sundried Tomato
Kalamata olives

and some Ck

Vegetarians will dislike the Ck part.

I ended up with all kinds of Yummy :)

Eggplant and Potato Curry

I am saving all of Tristan's recipes so I can use them later...
AND I am going to exclude all the ONIONS :(
I got this pic from "LIKE A LOCAL" blog...

egg-plant-and-spinach-curry.jpg

Chop 2 large onions

simmer in vegetable oil with

4 tbsps Bolst's Hot Curry Powder (the best)

Chop 8 (2 lbs or so) potatoes into 1" cubes

add to the onions/curry and turn up heat to medium, stir often

Chop 1 eggplant into 1" cubes

add to the onions/curry/potato, stir often

cook 10 min

add 1-2 cups boiling water

stir, turn heat down to simmer and cover

crush 2 cloves of garlic into the mix

simmer 10 min

drain a large can (or 2 regular ones) of chick peas (garbanzo beans) and rinse them

add to the mix

add 2 tbsps Garam Masala (aromatic spice blend)

stir in to the mix

serve over Basmati Rice with Raitha (grated cucumber in yogurt) and Peshwari Naan (if you can get it)

SO my friend sent me the instructions for his Quiche
I am going to leave out the onion for sure!

1/2 stick of butter
1 cup flour
crumble in together until it is like crumbs
add a bit of cold water
and knead into dough
cover - put in fridge
oh yeah and a tablespoon of DIJON mustard in the dough
and sautee in olive oil
until translucent
wash 1lb spinach

(onion is in a BIG pan)
throw in all the spinach
lid on - heat low
stir occasionally
grate cheese...
I used 1 cup "swiss"
1/2 cup parmesan
whisk 3 eggs with 1 cup cream
add cheese to the egg/cream combo
take the spinach off when it is wilted
chop it up a bit
take out the dough
roll it on floured surface
about 12" across
push into a greased 9" tin
so it covers the sides and bottom
mix the spinach into the egg combo
put it all into the pastry
meanwhile your oven has been heating ro 400F
bung it in
bung = chuck
40 mins or so until the top begins to brown
I threw on some sun dried toms 10 min before the end

so quite easy to make
a bit messy
oh also salt & pepper in the filling

Cheese

I didn't get the boucherondin.
They just didn't have it.
I talked to the cheese girl.
She said they usually have it but didn't order it.
I can check back later in the week she says.
I kind of don't feel complete not having it.
I suppose I will have to make do
I wish I got all the things on my list.
Somehow the cheese has become very important to have.

Impulse

Banana and Chocolate chip

Sounds to me like a great combination :)

New Things

So I never really gave these items a chance before, but I will.
I have gotten tired of meat (a little), so I want to experiment with different flavors.

More Feta for me :)

I never really liked Olives before I had these...Kalamata

I like Sundried Tomatoes

I am partial to goat cheese but I couldn't find boucherondin in the store :(
I got a little frantic. I had to find it. I became a little sad when it was clear that the 'cheese guy' didn't know what I was talking about.
I will try another store today

I am now really into pesto

We can put it all together on sourdough Boule!
