Main Menu

So this is the menu we ordered from. Only the people who could read Chinese in our group actually could order so they made suggestions.

This is what we got back

Eggplant and Tofu- This was really very good.

Pork with mushrooms and Tea

More pork and chicken with vegetables.

Scads of rice.
I have an Asian Experience cookbook and If i had more time or patience I could make my chicken as great as theirs.
Maybe soon.
So I have to say. The food was good but the company was even better. I haven't laughed that much in a long time. Prof and the rest had great funny stories. I actually really loved it.

My soup

Was really good. I had to divide this one lunch up into a few posts because there was a lot going on.

So I like soup but I couldn't eat too much because we had those wraps.
Then the soup and the main course was to follow. So I just had this.

I put some of their hot pepper in this..It was hot but for me very bearable. Only T and I had the peppers they put on the table.

Peking Duck

The last time I cooked duck it was such a disaster.

In the future I will try again and this time I will follow some recipe. I have watched enough food network and prof told me how to do it.

They usually don't let you have Peking duck at lunch but we could because of prof. So sweet.

SO they carved it in front of us and made wraps with these pancake things...so good.

Yeh It's Christmas

So they decided to decorate cookies. I liked it, but then I really couldn't eat the decorated cookies.
1. Too Pretty

2. Something about the colors of the icing made me feel it wasn't safe to ingest it...Too much
something for the color..I dunno what chemical they used but it was intense....

But we had fun and talked and laughed

The green Cookies were very good and the snikerdoodles too, but you all know my fav :)
That's right...Chocolate Chip

I'm tired...

Pork and cookies

I prefer the Fresh Food Place for lunch these days. The guy at the main food station was serving Pork. I didn't want pork, so I got a plate of his cooked carrots.
He smiled and said he was proud of me for eating my veges lol (they always think I am a kid)

Then I had salad.
Then I had Philly steak without the bread.
Well I shouldn't say then. I had it all together.
They have the best desserts there.
I couldn't eat it so I took it with me.
These are the SOFT baked cookies.
Sooooo Soooooo yummy.

You can tell I didn't make this

But I wish I had.
L'h F had this for dinner last night.

I am a little envious.

Hot Pepper Sauce

I used Scotch bonnet pepper so this may be scorching hot for many people.

I use it to season my meat before I cook it, but I also put it on my normal food to eat..so hot but sooo good :)

At lunch

This caught my eye :)

Bethie and I talked about the thing we went to and her being a vegan.

I tasted the stuffing.

I think there was meat in it and Bethie didn't realise :(

Dark Chocolate

I had some a couple weeks ago and I have been wanting it ever since.
I dunno. I was never a big chocolate eater, and then I went to that place that sells the stuff all organic. I bought it there and ate some every day for a week. That tasted so good.

IMG_4858.JPG

David in the main office keeps Hersey's Dark Chocolate in a bowl on his desk. It's never empty and he encourages sneaking handfuls of it away when he is and isn;t looking.
LOL..I think I am done with handfuls.
I had four and ate them without knowing I ate them all.
Not good....
Dean and DeLuca of course have scads of chocolate. I think looking is enough..but now I am hooked on dark chocolate
Sorry milk chocolate...you had a good run

Hahah

This is sooo funny. Sis I only took the quiz once and this is what I got!

We Can't all be Chocolate Chip! :)

My soup

Oh last night was cold and my soup was so warm and spicy and good
I made a tiny dark spicy roux, added some cream of celery soup and let it heat for maybe 1 minute with constant stirring.

Then I added water brought to a boil and added shrimp
When the shrimp were cooked to soft perfection (3 minutes later)

Then I ate some
Soo good and warm...made me sleepy

It hurts :(

I won't have anymore for a while
What is the deal with my stomach?

Strawberry cake

Ok first I'll say that it was a little bit more dense than it should be...
That was because I added more liquid (from the strawberry extrudate) and didn't compensate in adding more flour.
Also if you want the cake to be pink, the extrudate will add only a little color, so you may have to go artificial if you want it really pink- I didn't.
Other than that....

I think this came out good. I don't say great because I think I can do better with some tweaking.

This is a white cake recipe from scratch that I modified by adding strawberry and vanilla/chocolate pudding.

Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (add another 1/2 cup-because of what I said)
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup strawberries (previously frozen)
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 1 vanilla pudding cup
  • DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x9 inch pan or line a muffin pan with paper liners.
  • Prepare the strawberries by letting them thaw in one cup of powdered sugar (yum)
  • In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter.

  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla pudding
  • Add the Strawberries

  • Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  • Finally stir in the milk until batter is smooth

  • Pour or spoon batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven.

  • For cupcakes, bake 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.
