Rod-izi-o's

Ok I loved it because of the food and the company, but if I never see meat for a long time it will be too soon.

There was a ton of meat and it kept on coming.

On and On

We just laughed and laughed and laughed

Senti got wired off of Shrimp and cocktail sauce.

The whole night was just laugh after laugh....

I had the best time...

Then I started to get all twilight zone (Valentine forever with nothing to eat but chocolate)which made me laugh.

MMMmmmmm

I had that thing so when I was done I went to this place
I always thought this place would have food that just would not appeal to me so I never tried it before now

I tried
It was so so good
I will do it again

Chicken
Veges
Spinach something (it was like a pie with Phyllo Dough)
A couple potato things.

Sweet egg Tarts

Apparently this is a fairly common Asian dessert. The only thing I have to get is milk :(

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 10 tablespoons butter, diced
  • 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/8 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C.)
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt together. Blend in butter with a pastry cutter until mixture resemble coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, beat the egg with the cold water. Stir the egg mixture into the flour mixture to form a soft dough. Wrap with plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Divide dough in half. Roll each half out to 1/8 inch thickness. Using a 3.5 inch (8.5 centimeter) fluted round cookie cutter, cut out 22 rounds. Press dough into lightly greased 3 inch tart pans.
  4. In a saucepan over low heat, stir water and sugar until sugar dissolves. Measure 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons of the resulting syrup and set aside to cool.
  5. In a large bowl, combine eggs, evaporated milk and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Strain into reserved syrup and mix well. Pour into prepared tart shells.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown and filling is set.

A Reminder of The Past

Till I crave it again :)

Very Spicy Curried Lamb

Wanted to make it since I've been eating so much of it lately..
Now I can move on to something else.
You know how it is...
You like something, so you have as much as it as you want, so that you can get tired of it, and move on to the next.
When I'm done I'm done...

Get the lamb
Cut it up

Season it however you want.

I used a variety of seasonings including AmcharMasala and Madras and green curry

Let marinate

Cook- spicy (habanero)

Add small bits of potato to thicken your sauce

Enjoy

Dumplings

Cook whatever meat you want (I curried lamb)
Then add whatever you want..I added blue cheese and made this creamy lamb and bleu cheese mixture

Place in wanton skins
Fold however you want
Boil for exactly 3 minutes
Scoop out
Enjoy

Hummus-BUT

Ok you know you can fill those wonton skins with ANYTHING
So I tried Hummus

Use this (most delicious)

Fill and fold

Shallow fry

Eat Like this- with the spicy curried lamb you made :)

Lentil Soup

Starts like this

Ends like this

Lentils, 1 tbsp Canola Oil, seasonings (anything you want- not the aromatics), one tsp green curry
Boil Till Tender
Simmer
Add Dumplings (filled with meat)
You know mine is spicy right? :)

Rod-izi-o's

Want to try this place out
I passed by a couple times on my way to other places but I finally got the name and looked up a review.
Gonna try it soon :)
It looks yummy
But hmmm I read these reviews...I dont like bright lights in restaurants that are supposed to be nice. In fact they teach that in design school....
Fast food places..bright lights..fast turnover of customers keep it moving.
Nice restaurants: dimmer softer lighting, softer music, not so much distraction...
Now I am not sure....Maybe I'll wait a little bit.
Tell other people about it and have them try it first.

Chocolate Wontons

I looked this up and nobody had the process in pictures. Just the finished product.
get the skins
Lay them flat
Cut up the chocolate- haha my fingers are the same color as the chocolate :)
I used Snickers and Three musketeers and some other type, and then I had peanut butter.

I wanted gooey like Nigella Lawson when she had her fried chocolate bars. If only Mr. Saatchi came with the package :)
Ok paste the peanut butter on the skin

Add chocolate

Fold up

Shallow fry
I made a mistake..I had the heat up too high so by the time I turned round they were a bit dark..
No matter it didn't TASTE burned

But then it was chewy, crisp, gooey, yummy, and hot

Yeh umm put some icing sugar (as if you haven't dug yourself into enough of a sugary and calorie ridden hole)

I only made 4

Pink Grapefruit

This thing is making me feel better.

Thank goodness because I despise medicine

Collab now -Cry later

Done with carbs for a while now.
For the past couple weeks its been on rice and now this...

I can feel in my legs that this is not a good thing

So I'm done...
I thought about Da Brat while I was eating it..Collab now with ya- cry later...
It was good while it lasted though :)

Biogos

Smoked meat
Sausage
Sauerkraut
Whatever starch

Kam described to me this Polish dish

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday so it was abstain from something day.
Usually meat.
He didn't enjoy his lunch because of that..But you do what you gotta do :)

Just Like Currant Roll

Except Current roll uses flaky pastry and has currants.

That dude said this was favorite so I tried it.

I usually think the baklava is too sweet but:
It was worth it.

Herve This

Tribute to his Molecular Gastronomy.
Plus he is kinda hot- nice eyes (sparkly and foxy-haha)

You know I have a thing for eyes :)
Anyway what I really like about him is that he is really patient during demonstrations which is essential for food and chemistry of food...

Cool Obligation

Meet a friend for lunch.
I was ill but I went and felt better in the time there..
A lot of laughing.
I like to be around people who make me laugh or who I can make laugh :)

I had my usual but next time I will have the noodles.

They are sooo good and spicy.

Things you can do with Pillsbury

Oil the pan to crisp the base of the 'pizza'

Open up
Lay flat
Add sauce (white or red)
Add cheese (mild cheddar and Bleu)
Add Anchovies- the ones with capers (make sure you like anchovies because it's seriously anchovies when you bite in)
11 minutes 375

Done

L'hF meals

I'm always glad when other people have time to cook, especially when I have been deficient. I am having a trini food tabanca :(

L'h F sent me three meals he probably had recently.

The first is a salad I think butter sauteed spicy polenta discs, with tamarind mackerel flakes (or it may be thinly sliced s salami or bacon) on watercress with onions and drizzled with a lemon honey dressing

The next is more Oriental.
A spicy hot noodle soup (maybe made with fish stock) with baby bean pods.

The last is a rice dish with Duck (my nemesis in the kitchen) and Chestnuts in a dark butter and soy sauce glaze.

What's with the ups and downs

Well my stomach won't cooperate today.
I met with the other dude about the session in a couple weeks and he had a dog. Though he put it away for me, I could feel the heebies coming on. I tried to hurry the process along as much as I could..I could see all things dog around me this morning at the place.
He went through portion by portion in great detail. Good.
He made me laugh...
I trust him
He is excellent
But that place will kill me
By the time I left my eyes burned and I was heebing out...
I have the itchies
I know if I eat now I will be ill...something's gotta give
